Terms & Privacy
Last updated September 28, 2026
Tape™ is a daily market briefing product operated from tape.red. By creating an account, using the demo, or using the desk, you agree to these terms and this privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use Tape. Tape’s job is to brief the book you already have. Tape does not sell your data.
Not financial advice
Tape is not a broker, adviser, or exchange. Nothing on Tape is an offer, solicitation, or recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security. You are solely responsible for your trading and investment decisions.
License
Tape grants you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the service for your own accounts. You may not copy, scrape, crawl, reverse engineer, resell, or build a competing product from Tape’s software, prompts, layouts, or generated copy. Tape, the three-hash mark, and the site’s original code and writing are owned by Tape and protected by copyright and trademark law.
Accounts
You must provide a real email and a password you control. Tape never asks for a brokerage password. Connecting a brokerage is optional and runs through Plaid. You are responsible for activity on your Tape login.
Demo
The public demo uses sample positions and sample stories. It does not create an account and does not attach to a live brokerage. It is not your book, not live advice, and not a brokerage connection.
Data and third parties
Market quotes may come from public market data sources. Watch and earnings writing may be produced with Grok. Brokerage links use Plaid. Those providers have their own terms. Tape does not warrant that quotes, stories, or earnings figures are complete or timely.
Acceptable use
Do not attack the service, share your login, attempt to extract another user’s book, or use Tape to violate securities or other law.
Termination
Tape may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. You may stop using Tape at any time and disconnect your brokerage from Settings.
Disclaimer and liability
Tape is provided as is. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Tape is not liable for lost profits, lost data, trading losses, or indirect damages, and Tape’s total liability is limited to the amount you paid Tape in the prior twelve months, or zero if Tape is free.
What Tape collects
Email and a hashed password for your Tape login. A session cookie so you stay signed in. Optional brokerage connection data from Plaid (tokens and holdings Tape needs to build the desk). Contact messages you send. Basic request logs needed to run and secure the site.
What Tape does not collect
Tape never asks for a brokerage password and does not store one. Tape does not need your Social Security number to create a Tape login.
How it is used
To sign you in, keep the desk current, send a password-reset email if you ask for one, answer Contact messages, and keep the service up. Watch and earnings text may be written with Grok using public headlines and facts about names on your book. Quotes may come from public market data sources.
Processors
Tape runs on Cloudflare. Email may be sent through Cloudflare Email. Brokerage links use Plaid. Model writing uses xAI Grok. Those companies process data only to provide their service to Tape.
Cookies
Tape uses a session cookie required to stay logged in. Tape does not use advertising cookies.
Retention
Account and book snapshots stay while your account is open. You can disconnect brokerage from Settings. You can ask Tape to delete your account through Contact.
Your choices
You can decline to connect a brokerage and still hold a Tape login. You can disconnect Plaid at any time. Privacy mode on the desk only hides numbers on your screen; it does not delete data on the server.
Children
Tape is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
Tape may update these terms and this privacy policy. Continued use after a change is acceptance of the new version. The date above is the current version.
